@JMP SahibI dont think he was “so called” liberal. I think he was a genuine liberal but opted to become conservative that didnt served him well. I dont know why he did that. Perhaps he became scared or perhaps he had that one weak moment which led to a decision that ultimately created a snowballed effect.Perhaps Bhutto was little too ambitious. He wanted to lead beyond our frontiers – the broader Muslim world. And he turned conservative to establish his credentials to lead the Muslim world. No two Politicians are same but  perhaps Bhutto shared one core trait with Jinnah- the liberals who didn’t give much weight to religion in personal lives but used it generously for political expediency. Imran is keeping the tradition alive.

Qarar SaabI am little surprised by your romanticism with Bhutto. Bhutto nationalized the industries the phenomena that even Russia and China reversed in couple of decades. Bhutto played his part in pushing Pakistan to security state. He vowed to fight 1000 years for Kashmir, made atom bomb and then same Generals hanged him.  The so called liberal icon declared Qadiyanis non Muslims and banned liquor and then mullahs gathered under 9 stars to oust him. Bhutto picked Gen. Zia and should share some blame of all Zia’s screw ups. The ideologues like Sheikh Rashid, Miraj M. Khan, J Rahim all distanced themselves from Bhutto  once they saw the true colors of the feudal after acquiring the power. In a way Bhutto was lucky Zia pulled his plug little early otherwise Bhutto’s larger than life image would last this long.

@Smart Guy Cool SahibDomestic violence is a serious issue that ought to be challenged but the way you sketched woman is another extreme.Woman leaves parents house to entertain man to appease God, really? If this is the mindset then she is at the mercy of man to escape domestic violence. Woman leaves house to start a new family like man. That’s a norm and tradition that we both men and women have been following. Under new economic model sooner or later both man and woman leave house. My mother in law lives with us – I don’t play victim card.I left my house when I was 18 first for undergrad then for work. My wife on the other hand stayed with parents until she was 22, and when she moved out she came to a house where all she had to deal with was me and later my kids. Soon her mom moved with us. I don’t find the extreme view of woman you sketched around. But in principle I couldn’t agree more with you on battling domestic violence. Beside educating both man and woman like you tried here state should enact laws to protect women and most importantly the economic independence is the key for woman to avoid domestic violence and earn their due rights and respect.

Qarar SahibYesterday I saw a clip of Shahbaz Sharif where he was pleading everyone to accept judiciary’s verdict. That itself shows Sharif family is confident Judges won’t root them out. Like you I also think Judiciary shouldn’t send Politicians home and would like to see Imran keeping the issue alive until next election and contest elections on that issue like Sharifs did against PPP and voted them out. Once they got power of course they didn’t try to get money back. If Imran wins, and that’s a big if, he won’t either. This issue is more political than legal. Judiciary should give a docile verdict –  Hussain Se Bhi Marasim, Yazeed Ko Bhi Salam philosophy and let the Politicians fight out there battles. For Nawaz Sharif it was easy to root out PPP on Swiss accounts issue. There was no BB in PPP, PPP gradually wiped out from Punjab. Imran Khan has an uphill task to beat Nawaz Sharif in Punjab, if his tasbee do wonders who knows PMLN’s leadership may fall to Shahbaz Sharif or Maryam Nawaz then Punjab may be little more penetrable. With Nawaz Sharif at helm Punjab will remain PMLN’s strong hold like past 3 decades.Beside tasbee I was hearing Nusrat Javed yesterday this time PTI got some papers and it cost them around over 120k pounds. He didn’t give name but it sounded like Imran Khan’s ex brother in law Zac pick up the tab.BTW I think Sharif scored a big victory when they replaced Akram Sheikh with Salman Akram Raja. He is rock solid.
