This is exactly the problem Shahid Bhai, you want anything and everything which is profitable only, on a lighter note tussi Banyay tay nahi

Govts are not profit making organisations, does govt ever make profit from educational schools, water supplies, infrastructure projects??

I will get into debate about how much addition to assets have been made as you will never agree and i will keep writing hitting my head to the wall sentence. All I know is that an average person sees Pakistan in a better position than it was in 2013 and I concur.

Wah What a shot. Do governments invest in energy projects which produce at a cost 2½ times what others produce at? Do governments run transport systems where from the very begning,  intentions are to indefinitely incur losses year on year. Actually your equating transport and energy sectors to schools and water supply is bit funny and even justify the present condition of railways, PIA and steel mills.  

GeoG bhai, You actually don’t need to count assets addition because there is an easy way to do it. According to the constitution, government can not spend a penny more than what is approved by the parliament, the process is called federal budget or even some additional mini budgets. Now if you count budget deficits of all 5 years and put them together; and then compare that figure to the borrowings taken by the government in these 5 years, you will find this unpleasant fact that borrowings are double as much as the budget deficits put together. Now either you are saying that assets have been built illegally and without having them under federal budgets or you just have this wishful thinking without reality. A third possibility is, that you possibly can’t imagine what 16000 billion loans and 3000 federal development budget should have given this country.

Shahid Bhaai, Aap Chukkeh Nyaton Ka Haal Jantay Hain, Main Nahi, so obviously i am in no position to argue with you that why Govt made the project. However, this is not unique to Pakistan only, city I presently reside has same story for 40 odd years and it will be making a loss of 150 Billion Rupees this year, by your argument Govt should shut down and do something else. Govt has been subsidising for tens of years and likely to do the same for foreseeable future or until you become London Mayor.

Your assertion for the Energy project is just an old rhetoric as Govt had to consider production at the earliest possible time due to political compulsions and for longer term cheaper cost dams, work has been started.

I am not a constitutional expert so don’t know authenticity of your claim that according to constitution, Govt overspend by the tune billions of Dollars, if this was true, i suppose SC would have packed the whole Govt not just PM.

GeoG bhai, GDP is a measure of all goods and services produced. Now if producer of these goods and services pays no or very little tax to the state then what does that GDP help to service your debt and how can you boast of a lower debt/GDP ratio. Pakistan’s GDP is much more dependent on agriculture which is a tax free sector while in developed countries, all the sectors of income generation are tax payers. Now if you still insist on debt/GDP ratio then please take only that portion of the GDP which pays taxes. If you do that, then you will find us in a much worse condition than these economies which you mentioned in you comment.

Shahid & Geog Bhai every government has some good and bad performance areas when we focus on economy. If we look at economy there are mix indicators. GDP has reached last 10 years record high and it is rising last three years. Tax collection is doubled in five years although still not enough. Foreign currency reserves are way more than previous government. Stock market was record high and at one point it was in top ten best performing stock markets in the world. government got some good ratings from lending agencies for future low interest loans. Cotton import got a boost from a very positive rating and concessional package from European Union. Government bonds were big hit in international market although interest rate was a bit on higher sides. In terms of bad performances; loans are biggest failures where it climbed to a level that it is really alarming. Export for first four years of government kept going down although it is rising now. There is one more indicator of high imports which is at the same time good and bad. High imports are directly not good for a country’s industry but indirectly it means that lot of economic activity is going on as machinery is being imported and purchasing power has increased which will boost some job creations in future. I don’t think government’s performance is ideal but it is not that bad even and it is way better than Zardari government. I think Pakistan has set a platform where  energy crises are close to the end. Peace is now seen clearly, our strong infrastructure especially in Punjab and talent will help bring a lot of investment in future to help stabilize economy and boost job creation.
