Re: Palestine recalls ambassador to Pakistan who attended rally alongsde Hafiz Saeed

Palestine on Saturday recalled its ambassador to Pakistan who attended a pro-Palestinian rally alongside Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) Emir Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, according to a statement issued by its foreign ministry.Palestinian Ambassador Walid Abu Ali on Friday shared the stage with the JuD chief at the Tuhaffaz-i-Baitul Muqaddas Conference in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh, organised by the Difa-i-Pakistan Council (DPC).Saeed, who was last month set free from a 300-day-long house arrest, has been repeatedly accused by the US and India of masterminding the 2008 attacks on the Indian financial capital Mumbai that killed 166 people.”… the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates considered the participation of our ambassador in Pakistan in a mass rally in solidarity with Jerusalem, held […] in the presence of individuals accused of supporting terrorism is an unintended mistake, but not justified,” said the Palestinian foreign ministry’s statement, without naming Saeed.Read: US warns of ‘damage to bilateral ties, Pakistan’s reputation’ over Hafiz Saeed’s releaseThe ministry said the decision to recall the envoy to Pakistan immediately had been taken “under direct instructions of the President of the State of Palestine”.Palestinian foreign ministry’s statement.Palestinian foreign ministry’s statement.According to the Hindustan Times, the Palestinian move came after India strongly objected to the envoy’s presence at the DPC rally.A statement issued by Indian Ministry of External Affairs, according to the report, said the Palestinian side “conveyed deep regrets over the incident and assured the government of India that they are taking serious cognisance of their ambassador’s presence” at the event. The Palestinian foreign ministry in its statement said Palestine “highly appreciates” the move by India to vote in favour of a resolution asking the US to withdraw its decision to recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital at the United Nations General Assembly.”… the State of Palestine affirms its stand with the Republic of India in dealing with its terrorist threats, as our nations are real partners in the war against terrorism,” the statement said.Examine: What should determine Pakistan’s relationship with other countries?Hafiz Saeed was declared a global terrorist by the US and UN over his alleged role in the Mumbai attacks that left nearly 166 people dead, including Western nationals.JuD is considered by the US and India to be a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the militant group blamed for the attacks.UN proscription does not restrict free speech: FOReacting to media reports about the Palestinian envoy’s participation in the DPC rally, the Foreign Office said the people and Government of Pakistan respect the ambassador’s “active participation” in events organised to express solidarity with the Palestinian cause.”The public meeting held yesterday was yet another demonstration of the Pakistani strong sentiments in support of the Palestinian cause,” said an FO statement. The FO stressed that more than 50 speakers addressed the DPC rally, “including Hafiz Saeed”.”Contrary to the impression being created, UN proscription does not place any restrictions on the freedom of expression,” it said, in a reference to Saeed’s address.DPC’s movement for Kashmir, Palestine liberationThe central leadership of DPC on Friday announced a nationwide movement for the liberation of Kashmir and Palestine, and to protect the honour of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the sanctity of Khatm-i-Nabuwat.Addressing the rally which was attended by thousands of people, Saeed said India and Israel had formed a coalition that had the US as a patron. Calling Baitul Muqaddas the heart of the Islamic world, he said: “Trump has not only ignited war against Palestine, but also Islam. The US should abstain from wars. The US is on the brink of its own destruction. The supremacy of the US will be buried in Jerusalem.”Palestinian Ambassador Ali, meanwhile, thanked Pakistan for their attachment to Palestine.“Pakistan is the supporter of Islam and Muslims. With Pakistan’s tremendous support to Palestine’s cause, we do not feel alone. We have to ensure freedom and security of Masjid Al-Aqsa.”https://www.dawn.com/news/1379781/palestine-recalls-ambassador-to-pakistan-who-attended-rally-alongside-hafiz-saeed

@shirazi sahibOr it could also mean that Palestine is not supporter of alleged terrorists.By the way the definition of terrorists and terrorism is also so very vague. Many support Palestine in their struggles and many consider them as terrorists. The golden words of blacksheep sahib are so true. Nothing is right or wrong. It is all perspective and opinion.

Re: Palestine recalls ambassador to Pakistan who attended rally alongsde Hafiz Saeed

Shirazi bahi, season greetings and happy new year in advance. I am going to thhe city for NYE and thought of passing my well wishes to you guys. But could not find the thread.===============India supported Palestine in UNGA vote for its economic, human resource and oil import benefits/concessions from Iran and Middle East/GCC. But for Palestine’s ambassador to sit with UN designated terrorist presents a dark view of Palestine which itself has nurtured and supported terrorism for territorial gains against an occupying state.Palestine has alot to loose by siding with JuD which is a Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist organization and the government has rightly called its envoy back, though, damage has already been done. I just have a feeling that Arabs and specially Palestinians are loosing an opportunity to trade holy land for nation-state. Continuing brinkmanship policy will only doom Palestine and its economic state specially when Gulf which is the main source of funds for Palestine, is feeling the heat of wars and dwindling financial health. Abbas need to cut off all terrorist activities and get on the world stage to ask Israel whats in it for Palestine.  This novel opportunity to press Israel with global support specially with all UNSC members, most be translated into tangible outcomes for Palestine where they can start building their own nation even if Israel and US would not recognize it.

@farooqahmad sahibI hope so. In our country banned outfits can participate in elections an often we see ministers from provincial and national government, MPAs and MNAs from ruling and opposition parties meeting with the leaders of banned outfits and as such I doubt if Pakistan would have complained to Palestine. If this is a truly banned outfit, then how come it could organize a rally without overt or covert support?

Thank You Lovelyday Jee and welcome to the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. :)This is not first time that Palestinians chose to stand by India on Kashmir. I recall in last days of Yasir Arfat he did same. If India voted with Palestine so did we and have been consistently for decades. Hafiz Saeed is not an issue here. There is a thin line between terrorist and freedom fighter. The Palestinians that we are voting for also terrorists for few. Pakistan should revisit there Palestine stance. If Palestinians can’t stand by Pakistan on our regional dispute why are we offering our unrelenting support.I have my reservations on Pakistan’s Kashmir policy. But those who argue it’s a just cause they should be worried. Even Palestinians don’t buy our argument. Pakistan should have abstained General assembly resolution on Jerusalem and should establish diplomatic ties with Israel.

Hahahaha …You have clubbed Hafiz Saeed and TTP terrorists. Pakistan is limited to express their reservations through diplomatic avenues.

Traditionally and in past India has always supported Palestine. India also seems to have favourable relations with Iran and has recently come closer to Saudi Arabia also.Strange that infidels have good relations with Ummah and Ummah has good relations with infidels. We on the other hand have always sided with Ummah but Ummah has never supported our causes as we have supported the Ummah.

Government have no choice but to support Palestine issue; think if government go against it how religious parties will behave on this against government. I think issue was Hafiz Saeed’s image as terrorist and disassociate himself from that person rather than not to support Kashmir issue. Last few years Hafiz Saeed has earned a image of Osama like terrorist and Palestine don’t want to involve in any controversy. It is also possible that it is done on government complaint as mentioned by Believer Bhai. I think we jump to conclusions too early.

Who is Hafiz Saeed? He is a Kashmiri freedom fighter/terrorist depending upon what side of aisle you are. He doesn’t have a global agenda like Alqaeda. His sole focus is Kashmir. Pakistan doesn’t have a choice when it comes to Palestine or Israel but Palestinians do have a choice on Kashmir. They can side with India or Pakistan whoever they think is more  politically beneficial.Muslims don’t let non Muslims in the premises of AlHaram but have picked fight with Hindus on Ram’s birth place and with Jews on their Makkah, Jerusalem.  How come we don’t have any claim on Vatican city or Golden Temple?

If Imran Khan gets power in Punjab Hafiz Saeed like Sami ul Haq will get monthly stipend in millions. These mullahs call him Jewish agent and his best rebuttal is to give them money. Of course he can’t distance himself from Gold Smith’s daughter. Sheikh Rasheed Sahib is exploring religious options how he can put them in same bed again.

Re: Palestine recalls ambassador to Pakistan who attended rally alongsde Hafiz Saeed

Sherazi Bhai last few years Hafiz Saeez’s image is international terrorist and I think that is the reason Palestine want to disassociate any link with him. It is true his main slogan is Kashmir but I am not buying this argument that this way Palestine is against Kashmir issue. Today Pakistan government took all Jamat-ul-dava centers in government custody and practically stopped Jamat’s activities. Does that mean Pakistan is against Kashmir issue. There is a tremendous pressure internationally especially from US on Pakistan to take action against Hafiz Saeed and today’s action is result of that pressure. I hope this action is taken with consensus of establishment. There were news that his political party may be used to cut PML(N) votes in 2018 election and government happily did this action but is establishment on same page with government? it is not clear yet. I am happy of government’s step as these organizations are called government sponsored terrorist organizations which are earning nothing but a bad reputation in the world for us. Establishment has always used this kind of organizations for their advantages.

Re: Palestine recalls ambassador to Pakistan who attended rally alongsde Hafiz Saeed

Awan bhaiOn Hafiz Saeed civilian gov’t and military are not on same page. That’s a secondary issue here. To me the primary issue here is Hafiz Saeed or no Hafiz Saeed where Palestinians stand on Kashmir; with Pakistan or India? If you recall Yasir Arfat gave a similar statement in Delhi. If Palestine doesn’t stand with us why should we stand with them on their regional dispute? To say we don’t have a choice is beyond me. In 2004-05 President Mushraaf was using back door channels to accept LOC as internationla borders and establish diplomatic ties with Israel.  Military doesn’t have red lines they can settle Kashmir with India, can give Raymond Davis or Kulbushan Yadev back, open embassy in Tel aviv but for civilians all these are red lines. Civilians won’t gain turf unless they try to build counter narrative. I don’t understand one thing why don’t we have plural opinion on:a) Kashmirb) PalestineRealistically India is not giving up it’s control on Kashmir and 100 years from now whenever it is settled the LOC will become international border. There will be no plebiscite where people will vote for Pakistan. Similarly the Nuclear Israel is a reality it will wipe 22 Arab states before it can be wiped. Yet on these two issues in Pakistan we don’t see plural voices. You don’t find anyone who says India/Israel is right on Kashmir/Palestine. This sort of Patriotism or religiosity is counterproductive in long standing conflict resolutions.
