Sad day for Pakistan. PTI is upset why Generals dealt with PMLN behind their backs and PMLN is happy that they did. We were supporting Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz because they said NO to GHQ. This latest NRO means there is no difference between PTI & PMLN. Would have preferred if Miyan Sahib had died in jail. If Maryam had called out GHQ like she was few months ago. GHQ silenced another dissenting voice. Pakistan has taken one step forward and two steps backward on civilian supremacy. PTI has right to be upset because Generals showed little less confidence on them. PMLN has the right to be happy because Shehbaz Sharif is able to draw concession from mighty establishment and is able to convince his brother to let ideals go for now. But it’s a sad day for people like us who dream of civilian supremacy.
Shirazi Ji, it was too early for Nawaz and our political leaders to challenge establishment. The way generals dealt with Nawaz and brought Khan in was an easy short. Shahbaz has told Nawaz that if we want to compete with Khan then we have to be in good books of establishment. Establishment always get differences with all governments and opposition becomes darling of army soon. Nawaz has left the party for Shahbaz, and Maryam is also unlikely to speak despite living outside jail. Pakistani politicians and establishment both became smart now. Khan is just a rookie in power so it will take either more time or forever to become smart. Success of Anti-establishments politics is little far in the sky.
